Today we said goodbye to our pal Derek.
He fixed more of my tech problems than I can admit to having, he built a fabulous website for Holly & The Go-Lights when websites were a new thing (we thought he was a wizard). I did my first ever voice over and first ever jingle for Derek.. (I didn't realise you could make money doing that.. and now I do it for a living!). He shared music musings and his preferred baby wipe in the same sentence... and I had no doubt that I could ring him any time for anything and he would advise, help or guide... because he was just that kind of guy.
I'm sad that I'll never get to share a stage with him again and I'm so sad that I won't get to see or hear his mischievous chuckle again. But I'm especially heart broken for his gorgeous children who have been robbed of their funny, kind and clever Dad... and of course for his power house other half, his parents, extended family and friends.
See you on the other side Derek - keep us a couple of the good seats.
