All my memories of time spent with Derek are fond. I met him when he started going out with Aoibhe and from the second I met him, I liked him. He was funny, kind and very smart. Derek had a view on most things and it was always sharp and considered. We spent many nights watching telly, firstly in Grey Street then in their new home. Aoibhe and Derek were great hosts. I loved trekking over to have dinner, go for a walk, then chill out. Then the kids came along and I could see how happy they were, this nuclear family. You can see from his photos that he had a kindness in his eyes. He was one of life’s good guys. I can’t believe he’s gone and my heart is broken for Aoibhe, Cole and Cora. Amy Hayes.
